How to sell a Garmin Connect IQ app in 2026: every payment option

Updated 23 October 2026

You can sell a Garmin Connect IQ app four ways in 2026: through Garmin's own Connect IQ Store with Garmin Pay, or with KiezelPay, PayToUse or WearCheckout. Garmin takes 15% of each sale plus $100 a year, KiezelPay takes 27%, PayToUse takes payment fees and then 13%, and WearCheckout charges a yearly plan from $9 with 0% on the sales it covers. The cheapest one depends on your price, your sales and where you live.

What are the ways to sell a Connect IQ app?

There are four, and each works differently.

  • Garmin's Connect IQ Store. Since August 2024, buyers can pay for apps and watch faces in the store with Garmin Pay. You join Garmin's merchant program and pick a price. You add no payment code to your app.
  • KiezelPay. A payment service for watch apps since 2016. Your app shows a code, and the buyer pays for it at kzl.io/code.
  • PayToUse. A payment service built on unlock codes and a QR payment page. It also has a designer that builds paid watch faces without code.
  • WearCheckout. Your app shows a QR code. The buyer pays on the phone into your own Stripe or PayPal account, and the watch unlocks by itself.

We make WearCheckout, so weigh our view with that in mind. Every fact about the others links to their own pages. WearCheckout is not affiliated with Garmin.

How much does each option cost?

Each company publishes its own fees. Here they are side by side, in US dollars.

WearCheckout's plans are Starter at $9, Pro at $99 and Studio at $299 a year. They include $1,000, $10,000 and $50,000 of sales. See the plans.

What do you keep from a $2.99 or a $4.99 sale?

On a $4.99 sale you keep $4.55 with WearCheckout, $4.24 with Garmin, $3.96 with PayToUse and $3.64 with KiezelPay. These examples assume a US buyer paying by card, before sales tax. Where you pay card fees, we use Stripe's US rate of 2.9% + 30¢.

Option$2.99 sale: feesYou keep$4.99 sale: feesYou keep
Garmin Connect IQ Store$0.45$2.54$0.75$4.24
KiezelPay, buyer pays by PayPal$0.81$2.18$1.35$3.64
KiezelPay, card, you absorb the $0.30$1.11$1.88$1.65$3.34
PayToUse with Stripe$0.73$2.26$1.03$3.96
WearCheckout with Stripe$0.39$2.60$0.44$4.55

Checked 23 October 2026, on each company's own pages (see Sources).

The arithmetic:

  • Garmin: 15% of $2.99 is $0.45. 15% of $4.99 is $0.75.
  • KiezelPay: 27% of $2.99 is $0.81. 27% of $4.99 is $1.35. A card payment adds $0.30, paid by you or the buyer.
  • Stripe: 2.9% of $2.99 is $0.09, plus $0.30, is $0.39. 2.9% of $4.99 is $0.14, plus $0.30, is $0.44.
  • PayToUse: $2.99 minus $0.39 leaves $2.60, and 13% of that is $0.34. $4.99 minus $0.44 leaves $4.55, and 13% of that is $0.59.
  • WearCheckout: only Stripe's fee, while your sales stay inside your plan.

Garmin works out its 15% on its own price points. In the US store, $2.99 and $4.99 are its $3.00 and $5.00 points, so Garmin's own figures can differ by about a cent a sale.

What does a year of sales cost?

For 1,000 sales of $4.99, or $4,990 in a year, WearCheckout costs $528.80, Garmin $850, PayToUse $1,030 and KiezelPay $1,350.

OptionFees for the yearYou keep
WearCheckout, Starter plan$528.80$4,461.20
Garmin Connect IQ Store$850$4,140
PayToUse with Stripe$1,030$3,960
KiezelPay, PayPal buyers$1,350$3,640

Checked 23 October 2026, on each company's own pages (see Sources).

  • WearCheckout: Stripe takes 1,000 × $0.44 = $440. Starter costs $9 and includes $1,000 of sales. 2% of the other $3,990 is $79.80. In all, $440 + $9 + $79.80 = $528.80. Pro would cost $440 + $99 = $539.
  • Garmin: 1,000 × $0.75 = $750, plus the $100 program fee, is $850.
  • PayToUse: 1,000 × $1.03 = $1,030.
  • KiezelPay: 1,000 × $1.35 = $1,350. If every buyer paid by card and you absorbed the $0.30, it would be $1,650.

The home page's fee comparison works out $500, $7,000 and $14,000 a year the same way.

What if you live outside Garmin's 37 countries?

Then Garmin's store is closed to you, but the other three are not. Garmin's merchant program takes developers from 37 countries and territories: the US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, the UK, Switzerland, Norway and most of the EU. Japan, India, Brazil, New Zealand and Nigeria are among those not on the list.

With WearCheckout, where you can sell depends on your payment account. Stripe and PayPal each serve their own list of countries. Razorpay covers India. Paystack covers Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. Razorpay and Paystack take one-time prices only.

Which one fits you?

Pick by what matters most to you.

  • Garmin's store if you live in one of its 37 countries and want the least work. Garmin pays the card fees and adds the sales tax, and you add no payment code. Paid apps are offered only on the watches Garmin lists, from API level 3.4.
  • KiezelPay if you want someone else to handle sales tax and VAT. It has sold watch apps since 2016. It costs the most per sale.
  • PayToUse if you want to build a watch face without writing code. Its manual is public, so you can read every setting first.
  • WearCheckout if you want the lowest cost as sales grow, trials or subscriptions, or watches back to Connect IQ 3.0. You need your own Stripe, PayPal, Polar, Razorpay or Paystack account. You are the seller, so sales tax and buyer support are yours. Common questions are in the FAQ.
