Connect Paystack
Paystack sells in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa with cards, bank, transfer, USSD and mobile money. You are the seller on your own Paystack account. It takes one-time prices only.
Connect your account
- Open Connect. In Payments, under Paystack, choose Connect on the Test side. Keep the window open.
- Set our webhook. In Paystack, open Settings, then API Keys & Webhooks. Paste the address the window shows as the Test Webhook URL.
- Paste the key. Copy the Test Secret Key from the same page into the window. Paystack signs its webhooks with that key, so there is no other secret. We store it encrypted.
- Connect live at go-live. Repeat on the Live side, with the Live Webhook URL and Live Secret Key.
- One connection serves all your apps. Test and live connect separately.
- Price the app in naira, cedis, shillings or rand on its Pricing tab. Dollars work only for businesses in Nigeria and Kenya.
- Paystack keeps one webhook address per mode, so it can't serve another service at the same time.
- To send one app through Paystack while others use Stripe, pick Paystack on that app's Pricing tab.
How the buyer pays
The watch's QR code opens our page on the phone, which asks for the buyer's email: Paystack won't open its checkout without one. The buyer then pays on Paystack's own page, comes back to our page, and the watch unlocks.
Fees
Paystack takes its own fee on each sale. Our plan price is the same whichever processor you use.
What we listen for
| Paystack event | What it means | What the watch does |
|---|---|---|
charge.success | Paid | Unlocks within about a second if its buy screen is open; otherwise when it next asks. |
refund.processed | Refunded | Locks at its next check; at once if its buy screen is open. |
charge.dispute.create, charge.dispute.resolve | A dispute opened or ended | Stays unlocked unless the dispute is lost. |
We read every event back from Paystack before acting on it, and check it against the checkout we made: the watch and app, the amount, the currency, and test or live.
Refunds
Refund from the sale's page in the dashboard, or in Paystack. Either way the watch locks.
