Selling
What you can sell
Each app has one price, and it opens everything you list as Premium. You pick how it's paid: once, as a subscription, or for a set time. A free trial or an offer can sit on top.
Ways to sell
| Kind | What the buyer gets | Plans |
|---|---|---|
| Once | Premium on that watch, for good | Every plan |
| Subscription | Premium while the subscription runs: monthly, and yearly if you add a yearly price. Cancel any time. | Pro, Studio |
| For a set time | Premium for 1, 2 or 3 years, with no renewal | Every plan |
| Free trial | Premium free on the watch for up to 30 days, with no card | Every plan |
| Offer | Your paid features open for everyone until a day you pick | Pro, Studio |
Set the kind and the price in your app's Pricing tab. Plans and fees compares the plans.
Once
A purchase belongs to the watch it was bought for: Garmin's device ID for your app on that watch. The ID survives reinstalls, so there's no account for the buyer to make and no code to type.
Subscriptions
- A monthly price, and a yearly one if you want it. The checkout shows the renewal terms.
- A canceled subscription stays unlocked to the end of the period the buyer paid for. The unlocked screen shows the day it ends.
- Renewals, declined cards and cancellations: see Refunds, disputes and renewals.
For a set time
- Pay once for 1, 2 or 3 years. Nothing renews by itself.
- A month before it ends, the watch shows "Ends on" and the day, with a code to renew.
- A second purchase extends it.
Free trials
- Up to 30 days, set in your dashboard and in
TRIAL_DAYS. The trial runs on the watch: no card, no checkout. - Our server counts it from the first time it saw that watch, so reinstalling never restarts it, and a clock set back can't stretch it.
- The buy screen's title counts down ("7 days left", "Last day"), then says "Trial over".
How the trial behaves in your code is on Gating paid features.
Offers
- Open your paid features for every watch with the app for a while: a launch week, a holiday.
- The watch says so, and closes them again by itself when the offer ends. Nobody loses what they bought.
- An open offer can be extended, never cut short, so buyers can count on the day the watch shows.
- An offer can only open features. It can never lock anything your build leaves free.
Collection passes
One purchase opens several of your apps on that watch: once, for a set time, or as a subscription. Each app asks our server and gets the same answer. Set them up under Apps, Passes.
Prices and currencies
- Set prices in US dollars. The lowest price is $0.99. Buyers abroad see their own currency.
- Stripe takes cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay in 135 currencies. PayPal suits prices under $10, where its fees on small payments are lower.
- A new price applies to new purchases only. Buyers keep what they paid for. Changing a live app's price asks you to confirm it's you again.
- Your sales are counted in US dollars at each day's rate, for your plan and your statements.
What the buyer sees
- Scan. The watch's QR code opens your processor's own checkout on the phone, already linked to that watch. It shows the product, the price and what Premium adds.
- Pay. Card details go to the processor only, never to us. Stripe's checkout shows Apple Pay and Google Pay where the phone has them.
- Done. A page says "Confirming your payment" while the watch unlocks.
You're the seller. Your name, support email, terms, refund and privacy links show on the payment pages.
